What is a Quality Management Plan?
The Quality Management Plan (QMP) “is a component of the project management plan that describes how applicable policies, procedures and guidelines will be implemented to achieve the quality objectives. It describes the activities and resources necessary for the project management team to achieve the quality objectives set for the project” (PMBOK® Guide – 6th Edition, page 286)
The (QMP) therefore documents all processes and control measures required to effectively manage the quality of a project benchmarked to the defined project requirements and design specification. The QMP umbrella extends from the planning phase to project delivery. It clearly defines the roles, responsibilities and authorities of the quality team, its deliverables and how Non-Conformances (NCRs) with related costs of quality will be dealt with.
